Choice of Trailer Type

We have decided on creating a mainstream psychological horror with minimal elements of gore that would be suitable for a younger audience. We, as a pair, have decided on creating a highlights trailer instead of a scene trailer. This is because we decided that a highlights trailer is capable of creating intensity throughout to build suspense and is also able to promote the genre of the trailer more efficiently. We also want to include jump scares throughout the trailer, to build suspense and entice the audience into watching the entire film, which is the ultimate goal of a trailer. A trailer that has inspired us when making this decision is the trailer for Conjuring (2013) as the jump scares throughout are well incorporated into the narrative and have a big impact on building suspense. One aspect that was particularly appreciated was the jump scare at the end which we believe is essential if our trailer is going to be enjoyed by psychological fans today.
