My magazine cover is similar to a Sight & Sound magazine as the main cover image is to one side of the page and shows the auteur of the film being described. This allows there to be room for the headings beside the image, making sure that no writing overlaps it, which makes it look professional. The background is a bold colour on both and in my case connotes the horror genre with the use of red and black. The circle on my magazine describes a free offer whereas the circle on the Sight & Sound magazine explains what else is included inside the magazine showing the importance of merchandise in my magazine to attract the target audience. The use of three headings is also a similarity between the two, however on my magazine the main sub-headings are larger than the rest of the text to emphasise what the heading is about and to attract the reader's attention. Instead of having the auteur's name across the bottom of the cover I included a film reel to illustrate certain aspects of our trailer to pike reader's interest. This also allowed the name of our trailer 'The Evil Within' to be shown in a bold font across the bottom centre of the page which will attract the reader's attention. I added the tagline above the masthead so that there was more reference to the trailer and the date and price are below the masthead. A difference between the two magazine covers is the fact that the main cover image is in front of the masthead on my magazine but behind the 'Sight & Sound' masthead on that magazine. This shows that my magazine is a well known brand, so that the whole masthead hasn't got to be shown to be recognised. This however doesn't mean that the 'Sight & Sound' brand isn't well known, as the masthead covering the image doesn't make any difference to the overall effect of the message. I have also included a strap-line which isn't seen on the other magazine.
