Favourite image analysis

My favourite choice of scene from my horror research is from David Yates’ HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS - PART 2 (2011).

This scene illustrates how the bad wizards think they have won as Harry is supposedly dead. Voldemort is seen in front and he is lighter than the rest of the characters which makes him look more significant compared to them. He is also positioned in the middle of the image which again shows that he is the most powerful person at this moment in the film. It can also be argued that Voldemort isn’t even human anymore as he has transformed into another creature that has no soul. This is evident from the fact that he has no nose which is a prominent human feature. Apart from Voldemort the rest of the death-eaters are wearing black which connotes evil. We can see around the scene that the castle has been destroyed which shows the scale of destruction caused between good and evil.  Hagrid, who is carrying Harry, is tied by a rope and being lead by the man next to him which shows that good has been restrained by the bad and that people have been demoralised in the eyes of evil. The scene is also lit in low key lighting which emphasises the theme of death and evil.

From this, I’m eager to make a psychological horror with a bit of gore included but one that confuses the audience into believing one thing is happening when actually something completely different is taking place.
